Sight Action is one of two operational companies set up by The Highland and Islands Society for Blind People. The other is Highland BlindCraft, an employment and training facility.
Sight Action is contracted by the Highland Council, NHS Highland and the Western Isles Council to provide services on their behalf as well as a range of other services provided through charitable funding.
Our Adult Team provides a comprehensive rehabilitation service to over 2600 blind and visually impaired people, their carers and families.
The Children and Families Team provides services to over 180 visually impaired babies, children and young people, many with complex needs, their parents, carers and families throughout the Highlands and Western Isles.
We have a Resource Centre at Beechwood House, Inverness where people can call to find out about and try a range of equipment to help with mobility and many daily living tasks. It also has up to date advice and information and other resources, including a toy library.
We share premises in Caithness where we are developing a dual-sensory approach, in partnership with Hearing and Sight Care.
We have good partnerships with our colleagues in Health, Education and Social Work Services.
In our Inverness Head Office, Sight Action has a Team of Qualified Rehabilitation Workers, admin and clerical staff, based alongside;
A Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Our Resource and Information Centre.
A talking book library service.
Support groups are organised throughout the area.
We have a number of other volunteers who work hard to support the services we provide.
A Minibus and Mobile Resource vehicle.
There is a big challenge involved in improving awareness and taking action to support people across the blindness sector, with numbers projected to more than double over the next 20 years.

Salary £26,830 - Temporary post for 1 year, 35 hours per week.
Sight Action is a registered charity supporting visually impaired people throughout Highland and the Western Isles.
Our field work services assess, support and offer information and training to blind and partially sighted people of all ages, helping them to live as independently and as safely as possible.
We are currently looking to recruit an Office Manager for our Inverness Office on Old Perth Road.
This is a key role for an exceptionally organized and experienced person to work for our charity, this is initially a post for one year and will be subject to review.
For this role you will have a professional but friendly approach, with excellent financial management skills. You will need a sound knowledge and experience of accounting preferably for a charity and show great attention to detail. You will need excellent HR, IT, administration and communication skills. You will also be responsible for supervising administration staff.
You need to be flexible and adaptable and have the ability to prioritize your work load.
